The Holidays are always special at Quantum Leap Farm. We put up decorations and throw a few parties for our participants, donors and volunteers. The horses wear reindeer antlers and Buddy (Edie’s labrador) puts on a few pounds panhandling at buffets. We also have quiet times where QLF staff and horses take a break from therapy sessions, spend some time with their families and gear up for the new year. We still need volunteers every day–in fact, more than ever since so many regulars are leaving town and spending some well-deserved time with their families.
The QLF Holiday Bash is our annual party for participants, donors and volunteers. We had a great time dancing to music, singing on hayrides, gathering around the bonfire, and of course the scavenger hunt plus games for the kids. Revelers brought their favorite dish for a knock out buffet. This is always a great time of year to celebrate the holidays and enjoy Quantum Leap Farm under the stars.
Every holiday season Quantum Leap Farm invites veterans from the James A. Haley VA Hospital’s MHICM (Mental Health Intensive Care Management) Program to have a holiday luncheon at the Farm. We welcomed over 100 veterans who dined on a delicious menu donated by Smiles Cafe in Land O’ Lakes, complete with Christmas cake.
Quantum Leap Farm welcomed military families and families from Wounded Warrior Family Support, as well as pediatric cancer patients, survivors and their families, and special needs kids and their families for a Holiday Family Fun Day. At our beautiful facility in northwest Hillsborough County, families enjoyed a fun filled day that included lunch, pony rides for the kids, hay rides, pony painting and equine arts and crafts.
QLF will be closed to participants for the Holidays. Volunteers will still be needed for horse care and stable management.
